Boron Killer® Drill Bit - 6.7x80mm | DF-1667
Delivery time
The DF-1667 Boron Killer is designed specifically for drilling through Boron Steel. This 8.0mm drill bit, made of Tungsten Carbide and with a special multi-layered coating, is the only one strong enough to survive the toughness of Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS), also known as Boron Steel. This type of steel is commonly used by vehicle manufacturers to simultaneously increase structural strength and decrease weight and fuel consumption. Its strength is about three times that of regular High Strength Steel, allowing for thinner and lighter designs that still maintain crashworthiness.
While Volvo is a prominent user of this type of steel, it can also be found in various other structural components such as intrusion beams, B-pillars, bumpers, and cabin reinforcements. The three cutting edges on the drill bit help distribute cutting forces over a larger area, reducing the risk of premature breakage.
Additionally, the multi-layered coating eliminates the need for lubrication and acts as an anti-sticking surface
